Company History

Charleston Tutoring, located in Charleston, South Carolina, was founded in 1999 by Susan S. Frawley. Mrs. Frawley, a former chemistry instructor at the College of Charleston, created this company at her dining room table in response to concerns of the parent of a faltering home-school student. Word of mouth quickly generted additiaonl requests from other concerned parents. It was clear that tutoring in the areas of sciences, advacnced mathematics and foreign languages was not widely available, and the market was significantly underserved.

By demand, Charleston Tutoring began providng instruction in areas otherwise unavailable or underseved, such as chemsitry, biology, physics, statistics, elemtnary math and reading, test-preparation, study and organizational skills, SAT preparation, history, English, Spanish and French. In order to accomodate the increase in services, Mrs. Frawley identified and contracted expert tutors to educate clients in the additional subject areas.

What first began as a one-client business, has since grown into a company with hundred of clients in the great Charleston and East Cooper regions.
